Over the past 8 years, we have been working to help clients find their dream house for rent or buy in Kigali and Rwanda. There have been tremendous lessons learned as well as improvement in order to provide great customer service.
Today, we feel happy and generous to share tips at which you must consider when renting a home in Kigali most especially for foreigners who have no clue on the real estate industry of Rwanda.
- Choose the right location
Everyone who is looking for a re-locate in a new place thinks about several things including the office location, hospitals, church, and schools for their children. When you look at the infrastructure development that has been taking place in Rwanda for the past 2 decades, you see an amazing place to settle around the city of Kigali.

We would advise you to check the distance between your preferred place and all those mentioned facilities.
2.Consult friends
“Don’t be cheated”
You need to get information from people so that you can weigh your findings and use your judgement to avoid losing your hard-earned money. You should work with a registered and reliable broker with experience.
3. Define your budget

The price range of houses in Kigali varies from place to place to quality of a house etc….
Before deciding on where to live, first define your budget and browse. Different brokers have websites on which you can go and find listed houses for rent in different locations. For instance, at Climax Rwanda, we update our website regularly with new listing to help visitors find their dream house for rent or buy.
4. Choose the right brokers
I cannot stress this enough, but it is very important to choose the right brokers. This point sounds more selling as we are a real estate brokerage firm, but we cannot skip it as it is more important. Choose well.
5. Explore facilities
You are probably going to find a furnished and unfurnished house, some with self-contained rooms and others not. So it is very important to look at your favourite facilities so that you can avoid the desire to find a new home sooner or later when you are unhappy.
Good Luck!
